This 2016 retrospective study of 125 patients found that a single ultrasound-guided Bone Marrow Concentrate (BMC)injection followed by a PRP booster at eight weeks significantly reduced median pain by 71.4% in patients with moderate-to-severe osteoarthritis. The protocol was most effective for knee and shoulder joints, yielding high patient satisfaction (9.0/10) and no significant adverse events over a median 148-day follow-up. The authors conclude this combined orthobiologic approach is a safe, minimally invasive option for short-term symptom relief in advanced degenerative joint disease.
