Comparison of ultrasound-guided versus blind glenohumeral injections: a cadaveric study.

In a controlled study involving 80 cadaveric shoulder injections, experienced surgeons compared the efficacy of two guidance methods using a posterior approach. The results revealed a significant difference in precision:

  • Ultrasound-Guided Injections: 93% Accuracy
  • Palpation-Guided Injections: 73% Accuracy

While the posterior approach was utilized for this study, it is noted that many surgeons favor an anterior approach for palpation-guided procedures, which may offer different accuracy outcomes.
