While ultrasound accurately identified severe cases—with mean CSA reaching 21.0 mm2 —it lacked the sensitivity to statistically differentiate between mild and moderate disease stages. Ultimately, the researchers concluded that while ultrasound is a valuable non-invasive tool for assessing nerve swelling and advanced compression, electrodiagnostic testing remains the more precise method for early-stage grading.
