The Orthobiologics Research Initiative is conducting a 12-month clinical trial comparing Micro-Fragmented Adipose Tissue (MFAT) injections to standard cortisone for treating partial rotator cuff tears. This non-surgical study evaluates whether injecting a patient’s own processed fat cells can safely repair tendon tissue and restore function without the risks and lengthy recovery of surgery. Sixty adult participants receive study-related care and MRIs at no cost to determine if this regenerative approach provides a superior, long-term biological solution for shoulder healing. As of April 2026, the study is actively recruiting. If enrollment is finalized this year, final data collection would occur in 2027.
